The 2nd floor of Holmes Castle.

The ground floor of the Castle contained Holmes’ own relocated drugstore and various shops, while the upper two floors contained his personal office and a maze of over one hundred windowless rooms with doorways opening to brick walls, oddly angled hallways, stairways to nowhere, doors openable only from the outside, and a host of other strange and labyrinthine constructions. Holmes repeatedly changed builders during the construction of the Castle so only he fully understood the design of the house he had created, thus decreasing the chance of being reported to the police.

History of the Bathroom Part 4:
The Perils of Prefabrication
In 1940, Buckminster Fuller receieved Patent 2220482 for a prefabricated bathroom. Fuller wrote in his claim:

Attempts have been made heretofore to provide prefabricated bathrooms with the object of lowering the cost of building a bathroom into a dwelling. Such bathrooms, however, by reason of their great weight and more or less conventional construction, have involved relatively high costs by the time they have been shipped and installed for use….It is an object of my invention to provide a compact, light prefabricated bathroom which may be readily installed either in a dwelling under construction or in a dwelling that is already built.

Ένα πείραμα στον τρόπο που αντιλαμβάνεται το χρώμα ο ανθρώπινος εγκέφαλος. Μια αργά μεταβαλλόμενη ακολουθία 15 λεπτών από εικόνες γεωμετρικών σχημάτων σε διάφορα χρώματα και συνδυασμούς. Εστιάζοντας στην μαύρη τελεία στο κέντρο της οθόνης ο επισκέπτης βλέπει το ίχνος της προηγούμενης εικόνας να αναμιγνύεται με τα χρώματα που προβάλλονται εκείνη την στιγμή στον τοίχο. Μιας και το χρώμα είναι ουσιαστικά προϊόν του μυαλού και δεν υφίσταται ανεξάρτητα από αυτό, το μισό video είναι μια ψευδαίσθηση που παράγεται στο μυαλό του κάθε ενός.
